Events & Rankings

This page is dedicated to providing you with the official freestyle events being organized around the world.

For all freestylers, this is where you can find out where and how to gather points on the world freestyle scene in order to finish the year in the top 16 and qualify for the World Freestyle Series.

For anyone organizing an event, make sure you email info@freestylefootball.org to register it on the world freestyle calendar, in order for your participants to gain points that count towards the World Series.

The more events you enter, the more points you accumulate. The more you win, the more chance you have of living professionally from freestyle (prize money, sponsorships, live performance opportunities).

Every freestyler will need to register his or her entry to any event and when this is done with an F3 recognized event, you will be automatically entered into the world rankings system.

We encourage everyone to take part in as many events as possible (even non-F3 accredited events) to gain experience. Online competitions are also great, but won’t be rewarded with points. The rankings system is in place to determine every year who ultimately the official world champion of freestyle football is. Therefore F3 believes a true world champion is a live freestyler who has the ability to perform both the art and sport of freestyle football on a consistently world class level.

Here are the points any freestyler can achieve from entering any of the recognized events on this page…

The first published world rankings will be made in December 2012 after all official events have been completed.

Participation in Events

In 2012 there will be just one national event in each participating country that the points will apply to, one continental championships per continent and one world open. Therefore the absolute maximum points available (if a freestyler wins all three) is 875.

Freestylers may only take part in one official national and continental freestyle event (e.g. If someone has dual nationalities, they must choose the country which they will will participate in). For the Continental Championships, freestylers must live within the continent of which they wish to represent. If they were born on another continent, they are only allowed to take part in their new continent’s championships if they have been living there for more than 5 years.

A world open event is open for anyone to enter!

The F3 World Freestyle Series

Born in 2011 with the first ever World Freestyle Football Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this format is the pinnacle for any aspiring freestyle footballer around the world.

The events form a series, in which the top 16 freestylers in the world are toured to multiple cities of the world, battling head to head in the art and sport of freestyle football to become the official world freestyle champion. All events are for live TV audiences and each reach over 10 million people, providing the top 16 with perfect platforms to attract lucrative sponsorship deals.

Everyone has an equal opportunity of one day breaking into the top 16… simply by taking part in all the applicable events outlined in the official Events Calendar seen below.

In 2012, these are bonus events, so the chosen participants won’t receive any points for being involved. They must join the circuit with every other freestyler in 2012 to accumulate points and prove their place for 2013 and beyond.

Judging Criteria and Expectations

As world body for freestyle football development, F3 have created criteria for a globally recognized judging structure and format. This is developed with input from freestylers across the globe to ensure accuracy.

All official national and International events in the F3 network must adhere to these criteria and it is expected that anyone else organizing freestyle football events will incorporate this system to ensure satisfaction from all participants.

F3 have educated a team of official judges that can be offered to any event anywhere if required. They are experienced individuals who have worked with the sport of freestyle football extensively as athletes and officials. It is understood by F3 that any judge of any freestyle football event must be actively involved in the sport and art of freestyle. Judges don’t always have to be actual freestylers, as long as they can accurately assess the sport and understand all the criteria below well. Where a freestyler is a judge they cannot be from that country.

Format:

  1. There must be a minimum of 3 judges
  2. All must be associated with freestyle football and active in the scene for more than 4 years (minimum)
  3. Judges must all give a short explanation detailing why they made the decision they have at the time they announce the winner of a battle
  4. Judges decision is final
  5. All profiles of judges should be submitted to F3 (where F3 aren’t consulted to help source them) at least 2 weeks before the event date for review. F3 will make suggestions if the judges are felt to be inappropriate. These should be emailed to info@freestylefootball.org
  6. The considerations for battles (the sport of freestyle) are:
    • Difficulty (Technical difficulty of the performed tricks, trick execution, trick transitions, usage of both feet/sides)
    • Creativity
    • Stage presence
    • Style / Stability
    • Battle Strategy (Response to your opponent, repetition of tricks/sets)
    • Mistakes (not appreciated)
  7. The considerations for routines (the art of freestyle) are:
    • Originality
    • Style
    • Story / flow
    • Choreography
    • Difficulty (Technical difficulty of the performed tricks, trick execution, trick transitions, usage of both feet/sides)
    • Mistakes (not appreciated)
    • Character
    • Crowd Reaction

For some judges, some areas will be more important than others. This should be explained before any competition
