In 2011 F3 launched the first World Freestyle Championship format to finally work for the sport of freestyle above all else. We at the Freestyle Football Federation have taken 2012 as a year to reflect and build the structure of the sport, which will ensure its strength in the long term future.

2012 has been all about the Superball in Prague, RBSS in Italy and above all the introduction of the official rankings and listings of freestylers worldwide.

F3 have built strength to the network of organisations and associations worldwide, which now stands at 88. Each country organisation is dedicated to promoting awareness and participation in freestyle football. As many as possible have this year organised their own official national championships and where they didn’t, 2013 will have that in place.

We have introduced a system that has learnings from many other sports, which makes it very unique for us and Freestyle Football. There are currently 3 tiers of event. We will recognise ONE official national event in each country (that is not to stop any other event, just to give priority to one), ONE continental championships and then the World Open event, which everyone knows as Superball Prague.

By participating in these events, you score points which count towards your own personal world ranking position. Anyone can take part.

At the end of each year, those positioned in the top 16 places will qualify for the F3 World Tour (the ‘Formula 1 for the football industry’), which tours them to World Cities to battle and become the official World Champion.

As global governing body for the ‘Spart’ of Freestyle Football we will recognise any and all events in the scene and don’t want to stop anything that benefits the awareness of it.

In 2013 there will be 6 x F3 World Tour events and as this is the first roll out of the F3WT concept to determine the official World Champion. Again, we know that many other events will continue to come and claim to be the World Championships, but for the structure of the sport, F3 can confirm that the Superball in Prague determines the World Open champion of each year and the F3WT will crown the champion of champions. It is a concept that is made for TV and general public interest and understanding.

The 16 participants of the World Freestyle Football Championship Tour (F3 World Tour) 2013 have been confirmed. They are the very best athletes in the world of freestyle football today and have been selected in the following way:

Top 8 athletes from the first F3 World Freestyle Football Championships
The next 5 places went to the highest ranked freestylers of 2012 (based on competitions entered and success in those events)
The final 3 places were given as wildcard entries to ensure representation and credit to all corners of the world (the federation is still developing enough events to make it all function from the rankings alone)

World Freestyle Football Championship London at the 2013 UEFA Champions Festival

This year’s UEFA Champions Festival will be showcasing the World Freestyle Football Championships in London on 24–26 May 2013, as the sixteen best freestylers from around the world come together for an action packed weekend.

The free four-day football celebration, featuring a series of family-friendly activities on The International Quarter, Stratford, invites football fans to come and enjoy the freestyle football entertainment, as well as to take part in various expert skills sessions provided by the Freestyle Football Federation. The shows and demonstrations will feature the world’s best freestyle athletes, including the reigning champion and Britain’s very own Andrew Henderson.

The events will take place between Friday and Sunday and will begin with routine performances from all sixteen participants. The freestylers will each have two minutes to present a carefully choreographed performance to music on the stage, which will be judged and scored based on its style, difficulty, musicality and perfection.

The grand finale and knockout battle phase of the competition will take place on Sunday 26 May (2pm – 5:30pm). Freestylers will battle head to head to compete for the winning title by outperforming their opponent and impressing the judges with their creative freestyle moves.

Alongside the professional performances, there is the opportunity to take part in a variety of skills clinics and coaching courses put on by professional coaches throughout the week.

Daniel Wood, President of the Freestyle Football Federation, said: “It is a very exciting time for the sport of freestyle football and it is great to be staging our event inside such a fantastic festival in our home city of London. I really hope the spectators get a chance to meet and learn from these incredible athletes and role models.”

UEFA Champions Festival will be the first major event to come to the home of the 2012 London Olympics since last summer, taking place on The International Quarter close to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and will celebrate women’s football and grassroots football.

Festival attendees will also have the chance to pose with the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Women’s Champions League and UEFA Futsal Cup trophies, as well as visit the UEFA Champions League museum to experience memories of past tournaments.

World Freestyle Football Championship Dubai 2013

The second World Championship event in the 2013 F3 World Tour will be held outside the Dubai Mall in Dubai, UAE on Friday 31st May 2013.

The top athletes in the world will all be traveling to Dubai immediately after the first event in London on 26th May and regaining their composure and confidence to battle head to head once again to this time become the World Champion of Dubai.

All participants are scoring points depending on which place they finish at each event in the F3 World Tour, so the overall World Champion of 2013 will be defined at the end of the tour and the year. This format ensures all athletes have to stay at the top of their game and keep innovating against the best in the world, if they want to be crowned as the World Freestyle Football Champion.

Having just impressed the judges in London, this event in Dubai will mean they all have to present new and exciting routines in the first round and then think about how to out-perform their opponents once more.
